An American Independent Company facing extra heavy oil that did not flow with artificial lift requested Cavitas THOR.

Rod Pump: cannot lift the fluid to surface due to the combination of extremely high viscosity.
Cable Heater: used previously failed to achieve economic rates.
Permitting and location means Steam Flooding is not feasible.

The Solution: THOR (Thermal Oil Recovery)

Increasing the targeted heat of THOR transformed cold solid oil into liquid, flowing during extraction.

THOR is set at the perforations, below the pump heating radially into the reservoir up to 50 ft. Reducing oil viscosity allowing for inflow.

Increasing oil production from 0 to over 60 bopd, 30 times more than market leading cable heater previously used in well.

400 million barrel field can be developed, heating the oil before the pump inlet also allows for lifting to surface.

THOR removes the requirement for heaters on the surface to assist with separation and pipeline flow.

THOR reduced oil viscosity also improved the mobility ratio, keeping the water cut lower for longer.

THOR automatically corrected for flow changes via the remote SCADA system staying at the operators set point, protecting the pump.
